Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) of Delhi can be the game changer in providing ‘immediate’ medical treatment to corona-infected patients as the community halls can be utilised as ‘Covid care’ centres for the treatment of patients.
Recently, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal chaired a meeting with the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA ) to explore the options to increase the bed numbers and oxygen in Delhi.
According to the sources in Government, L-G has intended to involve RWAs for the installations of beds plus oxygen in their common spaces - community centres, as this will solve two purposes - first, the patient will get treatment near to his/her home, and second, this step may reduce the burden on hospitals.
The Government sources also said, L-G is well connected with the spiritual organisations - Radha Soami Satsang Beas in South Delhi and Chhattapur to join the initiative and help in treating covid patients.
This may be noted that Delhi Health department had announced the projection of covid cases expected to reach 5.5 lakh by July end and the state administration require 1.5 lakh beds by next month.
