Maha first State to give both Covid doses to over 1cr people

Maharashtra achieved a record of sorts on the Covid-19 vaccination front on Monday, as it became the first State in the country where more than one crore people have been administered the two doses of the vaccine.

Till 4 pm on Monday, as many as 4.75 lakh people were administered vaccines in various parts of the state.

Of the total people vaccinated so far, 1,00,64,308 people have received both the doses of vaccine.

Maharashtra stands first in terms of vaccination across the country. “We have so far given the first dose of vaccine to as many as 3,16,9,227 people in the State. After today’s vaccination, the number of people getting both the jabs has crossed more than one crore people,” Maharashtra’s Additional Chief Secretary (health) Dr Pradeep Vyas said.

There are 4,100 vaccination centres in the state. “Till 4 pm, as many as 4.75,974 were vaccinated in various vaccinated on Monday. Since the vaccination will continue late in the evening, the number of vaccinations that took place on Monday will go up further,” Vyas said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Tope complimented the Public Health Department of achieving the milestone of administering two doses to more than one crore people.

Till Sunday evening, as many as 1,04,16,614 people in the age group of 18 to 44 years have been vaccinated, while 4, 59,927 in the same age group have been given the second of vaccine.

Similarly, 1,76,09, 232 people in the age group of 45 years and above have been given the first dose of vaccine, while 74,28,097 people have been administered second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

In all, 4,13,19,131 doses have been to people across the State so far.

There are at least ten districts in the state where authorities have vaccinated more 10 lakh people. While Mumbai accounts for a maximum of 69,66,066 were vaccinated till the evening of Sunday, Pune comes close second with 59,12,418 vaccinations, followed by Thane (32,31,731), Nagpur (12,52,489),  Nashik  (17,55,420), Latur (17,10,074),  Satara (11,81,304), Ahmednagar ( 11,75,030) Aurangabad (11,15,549) and Kolhapur (17,10,074).
