Jawahar Vidya Mandir (JVM), Shyamali student Vijayalakshmi has stood topper in this year’s National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) or NEET—the gateway for medical entrance in government and private medical colleges, the results for which was declared on Monday. Elated Vijayalakshmi who has secured 197 rank said that she is very much delighted to clear the medical entrance test. She further said that her family wanted her to become a doctor and today after clearing the results I am happy that I am working in the direction of fulfilling my parents' dream.
Vijayalakshm said, “My grandfather wanted to see me as a doctor. I did 7 to 8 hours of self-study daily for the NEET exam.†Earlier, Vijayalakshmi had also cleared the JEE Advanced exam. The National Testing Agency released the result of the NEET 2021 examination on Monday. Three students Mrinal Kuteri (Telangana), Tanmay Gupta (Delhi) and Karthik G Nair (Maharashtra) have topped the All India examination.
Apart from Vijayalakshmi, Harshvardhan of Dhanbad has secured 162 rank, however, he had appeared in the examination from different state quota and thus the National Testing Agency (NTA) has not considered him in state topper list. Similar is the situation of Ashutosh of Jamshedpur, he too has secured 180 rank, but he too has appeared from different state quota.
Also, 30 students of DPS Ranchi have cleared NEET this year examination. Riya Sen topped the school chart by securing AIR 2091, Aviral Gupta got AIR 2307, Abhishek Vats got AIR 2426, Shristi Sinha got AIR 2545, Shalini Priya got AIR 3199. Whereas 30+ achievers – Aashish Agrawal, Khusboo Kumari, Tanya, Akash Raj, Khushi Kumari, Arpita Priyansh, Pratham Tibrewal, Fauzia Khanam, Amrit Mishra, Shivam Kumar and others made their alma mater proud by qualifying in this most desirous examination.
The Principal of the school, Dr Ram Singh, congratulated all the achievers heartily and wished them luck for their future endeavours.
This year, a total of 15.44 lakh candidates had appeared for the medical entrance exam, of which, around 8.70 lakh have qualified. As many as eight transgender candidates have also cleared the examination.
Like previous years, females continue to outshine male candidates in terms of qualifying the exam. This year, a total of 4,94,806 females have cleared the exam while the number of successful male candidates is 3,75,260.
The qualifying marks range this year has dropped from 2020. While the qualifying marks range or cut-off for the general and EWS category had been set at 720-138 as against 720-147 in 2020, the cut-off for OBC, SC and ST came down to 137-108 from 146-113 in 2020.
