The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering organized an Online Guest Lecture on ‘Career Opportunities in Data Science and Machine Learning’ on Saturday wherein Dr. Kumar Rahul, Research Scientist II at Amazon was the key speaker.
Graduate and postgraduate students from all streams (ASET & AIIT) were encouraged to learn more about job options in data science and machine learning. The speaker touched the opportunities that are now available in the market for technologies based on data science and machine learning. It also emphasized the need for expertise, project development, and improving one's employment portfolio.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Kumar Rahul shared a presentation on Career in Machine Learning and Data Science. He shared basic knowledge on artificial intelligence, machine learning and deep learning. He stated health care is the most impact area where machine learning is working, followed by banking, manufacturing and so on. He talked about career opportunity in Machine Learning and Data Science.
He advised to first work on your expertise, work in project management, do internships and then choose for the data driven role. He said Data Scientists have to work and create balance between Business Management and Technologies. He shared some of his research work, reciting his 1st project which was on Geolocation. His target was to have as near as 80 m of delivery distance. The session was later followed by a question answer round.
