Congress women’s chief flays petroleum price hike

Saturday, 26 March 2022 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

The head of the Congress national women’s wing, Netta D’Souza, on Friday hit out at the Modi government for inflation and hike in petroleum products. She was on a day’s tour of Chhattisgarh.

D’Souza told reporters that the "power-greedy" Modi government had left no option for the common citizen than to suffer hunger and poverty.

“The Modi government, which is lenient to its two corporate friends, has looted Rs 25 lakh crore with the hike in petroleum price,” she said, adding that the excise on petrol has been hiked to 258 percent and to 820 percent in diesel.

BJP leaders falsely claim that the Union government had no control on the price of petroleum products. If this was so, how the prices were kept stagnant in the past four months for the elections in five states, she asked.
