Follow norms on Sarhul, Cov not over: Admn

The Ranchi police have made elaborate arrangement for Sarhul procession which will be taken out on Monday. Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Surendra Kumar Jha said that on the occasion of Sarhul, 500 additional policemen have been deployed in view of the procession coming out from different areas. At the same time, additional police will be deployed at Main Road, Sirmatoli, and other main Sarna places, he added.

The SSP said that special vigilance has been directed to all the police stations. “A meeting was also held with all the peace committee and the people of the Akharas. The CCTV cameras will also be monitored during the procession. The Police officer have been instructed to patrol the Sarna site and procession routes,” he added.

Jha further said the violators in the procession will be dealt with strictly and action will be taken if it is violated. The procession will be taken out as per the guidelines of the State Government, he added.

Meanwhile, On the eve of Sarhul festival Minister, Planning-cum-Finance Department, Commercial Tax Department, Food, Supplies, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Department, Government of Jharkhand, Dr Rameshwar Oraon said that Sarhul is main festival of Jharkhand and it is celebrated in a community way. It has always been a peaceful festival in which people worship the Sal tree. Greetings to everyone on this nature festival and it should be celebrate it with enthusiasm, he added.

Oraon appealed to the people of the State that they should celebrate the festival by following the guidelines issued by the State Government. “A new variant of the corona virus has knocked the door so people need to be careful. Corona has definitely reduced but not gone. If we are careless then corona can dominate. The Government has issued a guideline in the public interest itself,” he added.

Central Sarna Committee, Court Complex has also issued guidelines for Sarhul procession. According to the guideline women join red pad sarees and men in dhoti ganji in the Shobha Yatra, traditional musical instrument drums join with the nagada mandar, must use mask and sanitizer, Mauja teams of each village should monitor their own khodha, the Khodha team involved in the procession should make a cord on both sides and make a circle, and do not include outsiders in their Khodha and avoiding going to other parties.

The Central President of Central Sarna Committee, Phoolchand Turkey has appealed to participate in Sarhul procession peacefully. He informed that 5000 volunteers will be deployed in Sarhul procession. Contact number in case of emergency by Central Sarna Committee 13 RIT Building, Court Complex Ranchi has been issued .

One of the most popular tribal festivals celebrated across the Jharkhand region, Sarhul festival marks the beginning of New Year. It is celebrated by the Oraon, the Munda and the Ho tribes, of the Jharkhand. Sarhul marks the advent of the spring season or “Phaagun” and is celebrated till the month of June or “Jeth”.
