Max temp to rise; thunderstorms predicted

There would be no respite from the extremely hot conditions as the maximum temperature is likely to be above normal in different parts of the State, predicted the Regional Office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Saturday.

As per IMD, the maximum temperature would be above 3 to 4 degree Celsius at many places of the State in the next three days.

“Due to high surface humidity, discomfort in weather is likely to prevail over districts of coastal Odisha,” tweeted the IMD.

Issuing a yellow warning, the weather office said thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Deogarh in the next 24 hours.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj,Subarnapur Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Baleswar.
