Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first data centre of Uttar Pradesh in August.
The data centre has been developed by the Hiranandani group at an estimated cost of Rs 5,000 crore in Greater Noida and is spread over three lakh square feet. It will contain six data centre buildings and will house 30,000 server racks at full capacity, delivering 250 MW of information technology (IT) power.
Hiranandani Group has invested a total of Rs 9,100 crore in UP data centres. The first building, Yotta D-1, which is to be inaugurated next month, has a capacity of 5,000 server racks and will give 28.8 MW of IT power with a backup of 48 hours. The construction of the data centre project was started in December 2020 and is set to be inaugurated in less than 24 months.
The Uttar Pradesh government earlier this year had cleared proposals to set up four data centres with an investment of over Rs 15,950 crore. This will create about 4,000 jobs directly or indirectly as well. The data centre parks will be set up under the government’s Data Center Policy 2021.
The Adani Group, NTT Global Data Centre and Cloud Infrastructure India have received approvals under the policy to set up their data centres in UP. Sify Technologies will also be investing Rs 2,692 crore in new data centres in Noida. Colocation data centre provider, Web Werks, along with its joint venture partner Iron Mountain Data Centers, will invest Rs 197 crore for a new hyper-scale data centre with a power capacity of 20 MVA in Noida, the construction of which is expected to begin this year and it would be opened by 2023.
In May, the Uttar Pradesh government approved three data centre parks with the objective to make the state the largest data storage hub in northern India.
