In a first of its kind, a unit of paramilitary force- Border Security Force (BSF), Railway Protection Force (RPF), Rapid Action Force (RAF), few State Police Force and couple of International police are together undergoing training at Meerut based RAF Academy for Public Order (RAPO) for minimum use of force and less lethal approach of weapons for crowd management.
While a RPF is seeking Public Order management course, BSF personnel are getting trained for the UN Mission at Congo for crowd management. Similarly the Uttar Pradesh Police is undergoing a mob dispersal course, the RAF undergoing riot control weapon & equipment course.
“This would have never been possible without the guidance and cooperation of Annie Abraham, IG RAF. RAPO has added one more feather to its cap by providing training to BSF, RPF, state police, RAF and international police all together at training unit in Meerut,†said RAPO DIG Akhilesh Singh.
RAPO is the premier institute for public order management (POM) which mainly focuses on crowd / riot control, Law & Order, mob psychology, gender sensitization, law and human right. International Police of Myanmar and Zimbabwe and Police Forces from all across the states of India. The organization has trained more than 18000 Officers / personnel of State Police like UP, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana amongst others, Indian Army, other Central Paramilitary Forces.
