Heavy rains witnessed in several districts, Tapti river swells

Heavy rains continued in many districts of Madhya Pradesh on Saturday due to this, Tapti river is flowing above the danger mark in Burhanpur. More than 12 kutcha houses collapsed in Jasondi village of the district.

A young man and his goats were washed away in the floods. A minor died after being struck by lightning in Katni.

Burhanpur's contact with Maharashtra has been cut off due to water coming on the ramp located near the Pipes Factory on Bahadarpur Road. After Bahadarpur Loni village, Maharashtra border is reached. Rain water entered more than 150 houses in Ambada village of Nepanagar in the district.

Tapti is also on the rise in Betul. Two people swept away while crossing the culvert in Sandia and Jolkheda in the district. The body of one of them has been found. Search is on for the other.

It rained 1.8 inches in Sidhi, 1.3 inches in Dhar, 1.3 inches in Indore, 1.2 inches in Ujjain. Half an inch or more of rain was recorded in Chhindwara, Khargone, Narsinghpur, Jabalpur and Pachmarhi. It also rained in Bhopal, Satna, Guna, Khajuraho, Betul, Damoh, Raisen, Umaria, Ratlam, Malajkhand, Narmadapuram, Mandla, Rajgarh and Seoni.

Met that the systems are active over Bay of Bengal, North Andhra Pradesh, South Odisha post. Their impact is also in Madhya Pradesh. There is cyclonic circulation in South Chhattisgarh. A Monsoon trough line is passing through Kota, Raisen, Seoni, Raipur, Odisha. East-west winds are also mixing. For this reason, it has an impact in the areas adjoining South Madhya Pradesh.

Shipra and Gambhir rivers are overflowing in Ujjain. Heavy rains lashed the Ganesh and Nandi mandapams of the Mahakal temple late on Friday night.  On Saturday, there was a holiday in government and private schools on the alert of heavy rain. Water is being released by opening Gate No. 3 of Gambhir Dam by 50 cm.

Khandwa State Highway was closed due to overflowing of Ajnal river in Harda. Traffic started on the highway after 8 hours after the water receded from the bridge. Water flooded houses in Jatra Padav area of Harda city. In Bhopal too, heavy water fell in the night.

Due to an increase in the water level of Machagora Dam in Chhindwara, a gate had to be opened on Saturday. This dam is built on the Pench river. An alert has been issued for the low-lying areas of Pench.

In Kuthala police station area of Katni district, a minor lost his life due to lightning while seven people got scorched. Seven people, including Sardar Singh, Rukmani Singh and Raj Singh, residents of Khadola village, were planting saplings in the field. During this, it started raining heavily.

Everyone went to the hut built in the field. Meanwhile, lightning struck the hut. Raj Singh (17) died on the spot after coming under its grip. The injured have been admitted to the district hospital. Out of these, the condition of Sardar Singh is said to be critical.
