Mahavir Swami’s 5 Mahavrats guide us to eternal peace

Tuesday, 04 April 2023 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the 5 Mahavrats of Mahavir Swami including Satya, Ahimsa, Asteya, Brahmacharya and Aparigraha show the path to eternal peace to a materialistic humanity.

On Mahavir Jayanti, let us take a pledge to follow his path. Mahavir Swami had told that those who conquer others are Veer and those who conquer themselves are Mahavirs. Jitendriya means Jain to win one self. In this sense everyone should try to become a Jain.

Chouhan attended the Acharya Shri Vidyasagar Jeev Daya Award programme in Amarkantak. He distributed prizes to the best cow shelters, gau-bhakts and Pashu Sevaks of the state.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that Acharya Vidyasagar is a Rashtra Sant, whose darshan I have been fortunate enough to have today. I see the image of Mahavir Swami in him. ‘Mook Maati’ is his creation. Jainism teaches us to conquer others without weapons. Our culture is of Atmavat Sarvabhuteshu, Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah and Ekatma Manavta. We see the same consciousness in all, and want the welfare of every living being.

Chouhan said that taking a lesson from Mahatma Gandhi’s favorite hymn ‘Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye, Je Peer Parai Jaane Re’, he has made a scheme for women. I wanted to remove the suffering of women. With this scheme, the women will become self-reliant and self-confident.

The Chief Minister said that continuous efforts are being made for cow protection and cow promotion in the state. The state government has also started an ambulance service for cows and cattle.

One ambulance each is being run in every development block of the state, in which arrangements for a doctor and compounder have also been made. 407 animal ambulances have arrived in the state. He told to call 1962 for this service. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that liquor vends have been closed in the state from April 1st. Driving under the influence of alcohol will result in suspension of the driver’s license.

Bal Brahmachari Vinay Bhaiya said that Madhya Pradesh government is doing excellent work in the field of kindness to animals and gau-seva. Today, tractors and harvesters have taken the place of oxen in agriculture. Due to this, gauvansh is facing food crisis. He suggested that the Madhya Pradesh government should make such a system that the farmers do not burn narwai after cultivation, but instead give the straw to cow shelters. Straw is food for animals, man has no right to burn it. The state government is providing husking machines to the farmers on 90 percent subsidy. Straw should not be burnt under any circumstances.

MP Chairman of the Cow Promotion Board Mahamandaleshwar Swami Akhileshwaranand Giri said that Acharya Vidyasagar Jeev Daya Award has been started for best performing cow shelters, gau sevaks and pashu sevaks in the state. There are 1758 active cow shelters in the state, in which there are 2 lakh 87 thousand cattle. The government has made adequate provision in the budget for gauseva. This year, an amount of Rs 202 crore 53 lakh has been distributed to cow shelters.

Chief Minister Chouhan lit the lamp and inaugurated the programme and performed kanya pujan. Member of Parliament Sushri Himadri Singh, Ram Das Puri, Pramod Jain of Jain Samaj, public representatives, dignitaries, gau sevaks and a large number of public were present.

Chouhan wished for the happiness and prosperity of the people of Madhya Pradesh by offering prayers to Maa Narmada, the lifeline of Madhya Pradesh in Amarkantak. Former Chief Minister Sushri Uma Bharti, public representatives and officers were present.
