Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao on Friday said respect for India has increased in the world and the day is not far when the country will again be called ‘Vishwa Guru’.
He was speaking at the valedictory ceremony of a two-day Vice-Chancellors’ meet of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) Central Zone held at the Guru Ghasidas Central University, Bilaspur.
The ceremony was presided over by Prof. G.D. Sharma, President, AIU. Also on the stage were Dr. (Mrs.) Pankaj Mittal, General Secretary, AIU, and Prof. Alok Kumar Chakrawal, Vice-Chancellor.
Sao said the work done by the AIU to make education world class was praiseworthy.
He said Lord Macaulay’s educational policy had weakened people's mentality. Education in universities must follow the National Education Policy 2020.
"India has the potential to become a world leader," he said.
He appealed the students not to take studies as a source of stress. It is the responsibility of universities to make students patriotic and self-confident citizens, he said.
