‘Women neglected in Naveen, Modi rule’

Saturday, 30 March 2024 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

During the rule of Naveen Patnaik and Narendra Modi governments, women are completely neglected, tortured and ignored. The Congress is fighting for the rights of women. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s ‘Maa Ku Samman’ is only a slogan. Narendra Modi’s ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ slogan is meaningless, said the Odisha Mahila Congress here on Friday.

If the Congress comes to power at the Centre, it would give a woman of every poor family Rs 1lakh to earn her livelihood under the Mahalaxmi scheme. In the new recruitments of the Central Government, 50 per cent of the vacancies would be reserved for women. Allocations would be made in the Union Budget to double the salary of women employed as Anganwadi and ASHA Workers. The number of Savitri Bai Phule Hostels would be doubled and at least one women’s hostel would be opened in every district, said Mahila Congress State chairperson Minakshi Bahinpati.

Similarly in the State, the Congress would provide a cooking gas cylinder at Rs 500, waive off the loans of the women Self-Help Groups, provide allowance of Rs 2,000 to every woman and provide Rs 3,000 to every Dalit and Adivasi woman and take steps for interest free loan of Rs 25 lakh to every woman entrepreneur, said Bahinpati.
