Bobby Das seeks blessings of Samleswari

Saturday, 30 March 2024 | PNS | SAMBALPUR

In a move aimed at securing the Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat, the ruling BJD has chosen Pranab Prakash (Bobby) Das as its candidate for the upcoming general elections.

Das on Friday visited the Samelswari Temple here to seek blessings of the revered deity. Thousands of party workers and devotees welcomed him as he made his first-time visit to the temple. Prior to his visit to Sambalpur, Das addressed a party gathering in Rairakhol.

Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support, Das remarked, "The revamp of Maa Samlei Temple is testament to our commitment to develop the entire Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has entrusted me with this responsibility; and I am determined to deliver on the BJD agenda of progress and prosperity."

Das highlighted his personal ties with Sambalpur, talking about his familial connection to the region, stating, "My father was educated here; and I am deeply rooted in this community. We will forge ahead, united in our resolve to fulfil the vision set forth by our esteemed Chief Minister."

Speculation surrounding Das' candidacy had begun last year when he was appointed as the BJD political observer for Sambalpur. He reaffirmed his commitment to contesting from any constituency designated by the Chief Minister.

The upcoming general election in Sambalpur would be fiercely contested with Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as a formidable opponent to Das.
