CEO fiat to run awareness campaigns among voters on polling stations

Tuesday, 23 April 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

All polling stations in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 have been developed as model polling stations. Officials should develop these model polling centers as theme based polling centers to attract voters to vote. Encourage voters to get information about their polling centers so that they do not face any problem in finding their polling centers on the day of voting, said Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand, K Ravi Kumar on Monday.

The CEO along with the district election officials of the districts of Dhanbad, Bokaro, Ranchi and East Singhbhum, which have low voting percentage in the urban areas, reviewed the work being done and the action plans prepared to increase the voting percentage in the respective districts through video conferencing from the Election House.

The CEO said that this time the work has to be done with the aim that no voter should be left out in the voting. He directed to provide information about polling day through miking and spread awareness about the importance of voting to bring the voters associated with polling booths to the polling booths due to low voting percentage due to shifted voters of Jharia and Belgarhia of Dhanbad district. He said that they should meet the members of Voter Awareness Forum formed in non-government organizations and register 100 percent voters in their institutions. Also, inform them about paid leave on the day of voting and motivate them to utilize it properly.

Ravi Kumar said that the SVEEP program should motivate all the people to vote through innovative efforts. Along with this, target those polling stations where the voting percentage was low and work to increase the voting percentage by removing the related reasons. He said that societies built in urban areas should be targeted and motivated to vote there. Along with this, at the time of sweep programs organized in institutions to make young voters aware about voting, it should also be confirmed that 100 per cent voter ID cards of the eligible voters who have qualified in those institutions have been made.

During the summer holidays, he should make a democracy room for the children and get the project from them in the format given by the Election Commission of India. He said that to make voters aware, sweep works should be conducted on a large scale and the polling stations with low voting percentage should be reviewed and the reasons should be spread in a targeted manner. He directed all the District Election Officers to personally conduct a physical review of the polling stations having minimum voting percentage in their area.

On this occasion, District Election Officers of Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro and East Singhbhum districts told about the work being done to make voters aware about voting in their districts. Also gave information about the prepared action plans.
