AIIMS Bhopal has witnessed remarkable achievements in various academic forums. Participation of faculty members in various conferences and workshops enhances their skill and keeps them updated with the latest advancements.
Recently, Dr Kundavaram Rajkumar, a Senior Resident from the Department of Pediatrics at AIIMS Bhopal, has garnered significant acclaim for his presentation at the 5th international conference of APSID (Asia Pacific Society of Immuno deficiencies) held in Tokyo last week.
The presentation, centered around a poignant case study of a 5-month-old child diagnosed with CGD, shed light on this rare affliction affecting approximately 1 in 200,000 live births. CGD is characterized by impaired white blood cell function, rendering them inefficient in combating micro-organisms. Dr. Rajkumar's presentation highlighted the challenges and complexities associated with CGD, particularly its early onset in infancy and the prevalence of recurrent bacterial and fungal infections, notably pneumonia and granuloma or nodule formation throughout the body.
