Hry Vidhan Sabha passes unanimous resolution hailing construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya

Thursday, 22 February 2024 | PNS | Chandigarh

The Haryana Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday unanimously passed a vote of thanks and congratulations for the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram Lalla held on January 22. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar moved the official resolution, which was supported by BJP ally Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) and main opposition Congress.

Moving the resolution, Khattar touched upon the struggle linked to the construction of the Ram temple and said spirit of Lord Ram prevails in every corner of the country. “It is a matter of great privilege for me to present the resolution in this esteemed House regarding the consecration of Ram Lalla's life in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024. Today, every Indian feels elated and proud witnessing the re-establishment of the Ram Temple. On behalf of the people of Haryana, this House extends its gratitude to all those eminent personalities who have contributed through their thoughts, words, and actions to this remarkable achievement," he added.

Home Minister Anil Vij said, “We are fortunate that in our lifetime Lord Ram temple has been constructed. Many agitations were held in the past... During one such agitation, I was arrested in Lucknow and jailed for 15 days in Unnao.” Vij also credited the construction of the Ram temple to Prime Minister Modi and said it is because of his able leadership that a grand temple was built after court decision.

Supporting the resolution, Leader of Opposition and Congress member Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Lord Ram belongs to everyone. Congress members Raghuvir Singh Kadian, Neeraj Sharma, B B Batra, Kiran Choudhary and Chiranjeevi Rao also supported the resolution. Congress' Kiran Choudhary said, “We support the resolution. 'Ram hamare kan kan mein hai, aur woh sari jagah virajmaan hai',” she said.

Independent MLA Balraj Kundu said, “I support the resolution from the core of my heart.” The BJP members said the construction of a grand temple of Lord Ram at his birthplace in Ayodhya is a historic and glorious achievement for the country. The BJP MLAs raised “Jai Shri Ram” slogans in the House which were reciprocated by several Congress members.

Centre should accept protesting farmers’ demands: Congress

The opposition Congress party said that the Haryana Assembly should pass a resolution urging the Centre to accept the protesting farmers’ various demands, including a legal guarantee on crop MSP. During a debate on the Governor’s Address, senior Congress MLA Raghuvir Singh Kadian said, “Farmers are the backbone of the country. After the farm laws were repealed, they were given some assurances by the Centre but these have not been fulfilled.” Referring to the protesting farmers camping on the Shambhu and the Khanauri border points of the Punjab-Haryana border, he said the Centre should accept their demands and give a legal guarantee on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops. “The assembly should pass a resolution and send it to the Centre, urging it to meet the farmers’ demands,” Kadian said.

Govt working towards implement property ID-based registries: CM

Replying to a question during the Question Hour, Khattar said that the government is making efforts to make registries only on the basis of property ID in urban areas. Sonipat and Karnal districts have been taken up in the first phase. With the implementation of this system, there will be no need for inteqal, registries will be conducted solely based on property ID. Khattar said that previously, revenue records categorized areas into urban areas, rural areas, and an ambiguous "other" category. While local bodies managed property records in urban areas and respective departments handled rural areas, the "other" category created loopholes. Some individuals exploited this ambiguity to facilitate improper registries. However, the current state government has eliminated the "other" category, leading to complications for some individuals.

He clarified that while property ID serves to identify properties, it does not serve as proof of ownership. Through the ongoing large-scale mapping project in the state, mapping efforts are underway in urban areas. Once this data undergoes verification against revenue records, it will become authenticated. Consequently, traditional registration processes will no longer be necessary; registrations will instead be conducted exclusively based on property IDs, he added.
