The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Directorate of the State Government, Madhya Pradesh has issued instructions for protection of wheat procured at support price in the Rabi marketing year 2024-25 from untimely rains. For the safety of the procured wheat, supply control officers of all the districts as well as Commissioner Mandi Board, Commissioner Registrar Cooperative Societies, Managing Director MP State Cooperative Marketing Federation, Managing Director Madhya Pradesh State Civil Supply Corporation and Managing Director Madhya Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Corporation have been instructed to make all necessary protective arrangements.

To protect the wheat from untimely rains during the wheat procurement period at support price, the committee level procurement centres have been directed to ensure that the slot booking number of the farmers with slot booking is done only through the DSO login to ensure their produce is weighed and transported on the same day. After weighing the wheat at procurement centres, the gunny bags should be immediately stitched and kept in stacking at a high concrete place and covered with tarpaulin etc. to protect from rain.

Instructions have been given that farmers' wheat should never be stored loose in the procurement center premises and wheat found FAQ during quality testing should be kept in sacks. It should be ensured that the procurement centre premises are not filled with rain water and if necessary, the procurement centre should be shifted elsewhere. Farmers should be made aware to bring their produce covered with tarpaulin etc.

It has been directed that in order to quickly weigh the wheat of the farmers, arrangements for additional weighing forks and labourers/weighers should be made through the committee at the procurement centres.

Wheat procured at warehouse level procurement centres should be ensured to be stored in the warehouse on the procurement day itself. Wheat should be weighed in a covered place as far as possible so that the procured wheat can be protected from rain. The stored wheat should be transported quickly and safely stored in warehouses and if necessary, additional trucks should be deployed to transport the wheat.
