MLA Sukanta Nayak quits BJP

Saturday, 30 March 2024 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

MLA Sukanta Kumar Nayak resigned from the primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday.

The Nilagiri legislator tendered his resignation letter to BJP State president Manmohan Samal.

Nayak had won his first Assembly election as a candidate of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) from the Nilagiri constituency in Baleswar district in the 2014 Assembly elections. He retained the seat in the 2019 Assembly polls on a BJP ticket.

Speculations are rife that he is likely to return to the BJD ahead of the 2024 elections.
