Play ‘Nisiddha Nagari’ performed

Artists of Swetapadma Nataghara Bhubaneswar staged Odia play “Nisiddha Nagari,” written by veteran playwright Purnachandra Das and directed by Pradeep Biswal on the auspicious occasion of 10th Drama Festival of premier cultural organization “Ame Banchichhu” at Bhanja Kala Mandap, here on March 25.

The function was inaugurated by veteran playwright PC Das, Director Capital Hospital Dr Laxmidhar Sahoo, journalist Bijay Mishra, playwright Ananda Pahi, drama director Dhirendranath Malik and playwright Dr Ramesh Prasad Panigrahi. The programme was coordinated by Mukunda Satpathy. 

Two plays “Aparahnara Akash” and “Digdarsak” were staged on March 26. “Aparahnara Akas” was directed by writer Lalatendu Rath and presented by team “Mahumachhi” of Rourkela while the play of writer Priyam Janis “Digdarsak” was directed by veteran director Shiblal Sagar and presented by “Jharkhand Sanskrutik Manch”.


On the occasion, the speakers emphasized theatre culture and its relation to life, besides its significance in the changing scenario of the world. Among others, Purnachandra Das and Dr Laxmidhar Sahoo were felicitated on the occasion.
