Rajkumar Hirani to be conferred with Kishore Kumar award

Renowned filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is set to be honoured with the prestigious Kishore Kumar Samman 2023 by the Madhya Pradesh government.

The award ceremony will take place on October 13 in Khandwa, the hometown of the legendary Kishore Kumar, marking the late singer's death anniversary. The event, to be held at the Police Parade Ground, will be a special tribute to Kishore Da and promises an evening filled with nostalgia and respect for his enduring legacy.

Rajkumar Hirani, one of the most influential filmmakers in Indian cinema, is being recognized for his exceptional contributions to the industry. Known for directing iconic films such as 3 Idiots, PK, Sanju, Munna Bhai MBBS, and Dunki, Hirani's works have consistently addressed socially relevant themes while entertaining audiences.

This recognition comes at a significant time, as 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of Hirani's directorial debut. The Kishore Kumar Samman is a prestigious award that has previously been bestowed upon some of Indian cinema's most illustrious personalities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, Manoj Kumar, Dharmendra, and Shatrughan Sinha. This year, Hirani will join this esteemed list, with the award presented by the Culture Department of Bhopal.
