Serious efforts must to increase the voting percentage: CEO

Tuesday, 23 April 2024 | Staff Reporter | BHOPAL

CEO Anupam Rajan has instructed the Collector and District Election Officers to make serious efforts to increase the voting percentage in the second, third and fourth phase of Lok Sabha Elections-2024. He reviewed the voting in the first phase in a discussion with the District Election Officers of the Lok Sabha constituencies. Expressing his unhappiness over low voting, he said that the collectors themselves should take the lead to increase the voting percentage in the next phases. The office of the Chief Electoral Officer is always ready to provide full assistance to the collectors. Rajan reviewed all parliamentary constituency-wise election preparations through video conferencing.

Rajan said that collectors should ensure that voter information slips reach the homes of all voters. The information on the distribution given by the BLO should also be verified. While giving the voter information slip, voters must be told to carry their voter slip while going to vote along with their photo ID card or any other 12 alternative photo bearing documents like Aadhaar card, PAN card, Unique ID card for persons with disabilities, driving license, MNREGA job card, pension document (with photograph), Passport, Passbook (issued by Bank/ Post Office with photograph), Service Identity Card with photo (issued by Central/ State Government/ PSU/ Public Limited Companies), Official Identity Card issued to MPs, MLAs and Legislative Council Members, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR, Health Insurance Smart Card (issued by Ministry of Labour) Even if you do not receive the Voter Information Slip, you can cast your vote if your name is in the voter list. You can get information about your name and polling station in the voter list from the BLO present at the polling station. A day before voting, BLOs should go door to door to motivate voters to vote. Encourage BLOs who do good work by giving them certificates etc. Involve local social organizations also. The district election officers gave information on the efforts and innovations being made by them to increase the voting percentage.
