Wednesday, 10 January 2024 | SURESH NIKHAR | BERMO

As elephant violence continues in the Terai villages of Jhumra hill in Gomia block of Bokaro district. Where a herd of 30 to 35 elephants created a ruckus last night. Due to the bravery of a tribal woman, the lives of her small child and her disabled husband were saved. A herd of elephants suddenly attacked her mud house late at night on Monday and started demolishing it.

During this time the entire family were sleeping inside the house and they were completely scared and saw death in front, but due to the bravery of the tribal woman, the life of the entire family was saved.  One by one the woman threw her children into the pit made outside the house. After this, her disabled husband somehow saved his life by taking shelter in the neighboring house.

According to the information received, a herd of elephants repeatedly attacked Bhitiya and Gurudih villages of Badki Sidhabara Panchayat at night and created havoc and damaged many mud houses so much that many families became homeless.

Sources said that the baby elephants included in the herd entered many houses and created havoc in the rooms. The villagers, who had lost all their efforts, finally thought it best to leave their homes and saved their lives by climbing onto the roofs of the cemented houses with their children.

According to the information received from the department, due to lack of resources, a family, many of whose members are disabled, is helpless. The whole family was sleeping and everyone's life was saved somehow.

The tribal woman said that I woke up when a herd of elephants started breaking the walls of the house at midnight. Despite her husband's refusal, she risked her life and saved the sleeping children. One by one, sleeping children were taken out of the house and thrown into nearby pits.

The woman said that after saving the children, she also threw her disabled husband out of the house and somehow ran away with the entire family to someone else's house.  Elephants have destroyed the entire house. They have eaten the grains kept in the house, now they have asked others to arrange food to feed the children.
