Union Minister of State and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjeet Singh chaired a high-level review meeting at the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) office on Thursday to assess the progress of critical infrastructure projects in the city.
The meeting brought together key officials, including Gurugram MLA Mukesh Sharma, GMDA CEO Shyamal Mishra, HSVP Administrator Vaishali Singh, DCP Traffic Rajesh Mohan, HMRTC Chief Architect Namrata Kalsi and representatives from Gurugram Metro Rail Limited, Municipal Corporation Gurugram, and DHBVN. Singh reviewed the point-wise status of various ongoing and upcoming development works and issued clear directives to the officials, emphasising that no laxity or delays in public infrastructure projects would be tolerated.
Highlighting the long-pending need to connect the older parts of Gurugram to the metro network, Singh said the initiative would significantly ease daily commuting for lakhs of residents. He urged officials to ensure timely completion of all administrative and technical processes while maintaining transparency and quality.
During the meeting, Gurugram Metro Rail Limited Director SR Sangwan informed that the bidding process for the metro project had received eight applications as of May 15, which is currently undergoing technical evaluation. Expressing dissatisfaction with the slow pace of progress, the Union Minister announced that he would personally review the project's status every four months moving forward.
Another major topic of discussion was the proposed road construction from Hero Honda Chowk to Umang Bhardwaj Chowk - a key corridor linking industrial and commercial hubs in Gurugram that witnesses heavy daily traffic. Singh stressed that the project must proceed without unnecessary delays. Providing an update on this, GMDA chief engineer Arun Dhankar said 32 DHBVN feeders need to be relocated as part of utility shifting along the project route. Additionally, consensus has been reached with landowners on five key structural relocation points.
Reiterating the responsibility of public representatives to serve the people, Singh urged all departments to expedite administrative approvals for the road project to ensure better traffic facilities at the earliest. He also instructed that the situation at Khandsa Chowk, located along the project route, be reviewed and addressed.
Singh directed officials to regularly monitor project progress and ensure effective inter-departmental coordination for the timely and efficient execution of infrastructure works in the public interest.
