SSB-Nepal Police Force meeting concludes successfully

The 9th Annual Coordination Meeting between the Indian delegation headed by the Director General, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), India and the Nepali delegation led by Inspector General, Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal, concluded successfully in New Delhi today, reaffirming the mutual commitment of both nations to further strengthen cross-border security cooperation and coordination.

The Indian delegation was led by Shri Sanjay Singhal, Director General, SSB and comprised senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs and SSB. The Nepali delegation was headed by Shri Raju Aryal, Inspector General, APF and included representatives from the APF, Nepal Police, National Investigation Department, Nepal and the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the implementation status of decisions taken during the 8th Annual Coordination Meeting and assessed the prevailing security scenario along the Indo-Nepal Border (INB). The discussions centered on enhancing intelligence sharing mechanisms and intensifying joint efforts to curb trans-border crimes such as narcotics trafficking, smuggling of wildlife and forest produce, circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) and human trafficking.

Both delegations also deliberated on effective measures to regulate the movement of third-country nationals, address issues related to encroachment in No Man’s Land and expedite the repair and maintenance of boundary pillars. Emphasis was placed on expanding the scope of coordinated patrols, conducting joint training and disaster management exercises and promoting exchange programmes between SSB and APF personnel to foster greater mutual understanding and operational synergy. SSB also reiterated its commitment to extend training and capacity-building support to APF officers in specialised areas of border management.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing satisfaction over the outcomes and reiterating their resolve to maintain seamless cooperation for ensuring peace and security along the Indo-Nepal Border. After the successful completion of 9th India-Nepal coordination meeting the Nepali delegation members called on Shri. Govind Mohan, Home Secretary to the Govt. of India. The 10th Annual Coordination Meeting between SSB and APF will be hosted by Nepal in 2026.
