Assailants continue task in Nitish Raaj

Panic has gripped in Bihar particularly Patna after a 50-year-old rural health officer was shot dead in Patna’s Pipra locality. The deceased has been identified as Surendra Kumar. The incident comes close on the heels of a spate of murders that have rocked the State capital in the last one week. On July 10, a man involved in the sand mining business was gunned down outside his residence in Ranitalab.

Besides in a related development unidentified persons fired several rounds in the air in a park in the Capital city on Saturday evening. Local residents said that the incident triggered panic in the area.

On July 11, an unidentified assailant shot dead a grocery shop owner in Ramkrishna Nagar locality. On July 4, prominent industrialist Gopal Khemka was murdered in Patna, triggering public and political outrage.

In the latest incident, according to villagers, they heard gunshots from the field, and when they went there, the officer Surendra was found lying unconscious with bullet injuries, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO-2) Masaurhi, Kanhaiya Singh, informed the media.

The deceased, reportedly associated with BJP, was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries during treatment, Singh said. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, he said, adding, further probe is underway.

Reacting to the incident, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav wrote on X, “And now, a BJP leader has been shot dead in Patna! What to say, and to whom ? Is there anyone in the NDA Government willing to listen to the truth or admit their mistakes? Everyone knows about the CM’s health, but what are the two useless BJP deputy chief ministers doing? No statement from the corrupt Bhunja-DK party?”

In another shocking separate incident a man allegedly killed his six-year-old son by throwing him on the floor of a hotel room near Patna railway station The deceased has been identified as Sunny (6), son of Prabhakar Mahoto. The father is absconding.

“Police received information on Sunday morning that a six-year-old son was reportedly beaten by his father inside a hotel room near Patna railway station. Police reached the spot and took the child to the nearest hospital where he succumbed to injuries,” police officials said.

Mother of the deceased told police that a fight between her and husband turned ugly on Saturday night following which her husband brutally beat the six-year-old son and threw him on the floor of the hotel room. After that the husband fled away, he said, adding a case has been registered and the matter is being investigated. The couple along with their son had come to visit Patna and stayed in a hotel room near the railway station.
