95% of Naxal problem solved, final push in W Singhbhum: DGP

Following Maoists activities in West Singhbhum, Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Gupta on Monday reiterated that 95% of Jharkhand’s Naxal problem has been addressed, while the remaining challenges are concentrated in the West Singhbhum region.

He expressed an urgent need for intensified operations and enhanced coordination among various security forces to eliminate the residual Naxal presence.

In a high-level review meeting held in the Naxal-affected region of West Singhbhum, the Jharkhand Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) leadership laid out several decisive steps to intensify and streamline ongoing anti-Naxal operations in the district.

The meeting also brought together senior officials from the Jharkhand Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Jharkhand Jaguar (Special Task Force), and other key security agencies.

The meeting, chaired by Jharkhand DGP Anurag Gupta, involved top police officers and senior officials from various wings including the CRPF Jharkhand Sector, Jharkhand Jaguar, and district-level police units. It was conducted as part of a ground-level assessment of the current state of operations and to set the course for the next phase of action.

Boost in Morale and Resources for Personnel: The DGP and senior officers interacted with security forces on ground, offering moral support and motivating them to continue their mission with renewed energy. Special emphasis was laid on improving welfare measures and logistics support for troops operating in difficult terrains.

Intensified Joint Operations: A directive was issued to enhance coordination among various forces including the CRPF, Jharkhand Police, and Jharkhand Jaguar to carry out synchronized operations with greater efficiency.

Infrastructure Strengthening: Decisions were made to accelerate the development of basic and strategic infrastructure in sensitive areas, including roads, communication facilities, and operational bases.

Enhanced Surveillance and Intelligence Sharing: Orders were given to upgrade surveillance mechanisms using modern technologies and to strengthen intelligence networks for better pre-emptive action.

Area Domination and Clearance Strategies: Operational strategies were refined to ensure deeper penetration into core Naxal zones, aiming at sustained area domination and safe access for local populations.

Focused Action Plan for Long-Term Control: The leadership emphasized a comprehensive and long-term approach, involving not just combative action but also community engagement and trust-building measures in affected areas.

The Director General & Inspector General of Police, Jharkhand Ranchi was accompanied by  Saket Kumar Singh (IPS), Inspector General of Police, CRPF Jharkhand Sector, Akhilesh Jha (IPS), Inspector General of Police, South Eastern Sector, Ranchi,  Amol Vinayakant Homkar, Inspector General of Police (Operations), Jharkhand Ranchi,  Anup Birthare (IPS), Inspector General of Police, Jharkhand Jaguar (STF), Jharkhand Ranchi,  Puran Singh Ran Sattu, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations), CRPF Chaibasa,  Ashutosh Shekhar (IPS), Superintendent of Police, Western Sector Nhambhum, Chaibasa and other senior police officers were present.

The DGP reiterated the police department’s commitment to restoring peace and security in the region, stressing that the fight against extremism would continue until all hostile elements are neutralized.
