In a significant move aimed at providing uninterrupted electricity to consumers regardless of weather conditions, the Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board (MPSEB) has announced the deployment of additional Fault Outage Control (FOC) teams across its jurisdiction.
Inspired by the need for rapid response units, MPSEB’s initiative seeks to ensure round-the-clock, quality power supply for both low and high-pressure consumers, including industrial and domestic users. New FOC units will be established at selected distribution centers, especially in areas with high billing and collection efficiency and reduced Aggregate Technical & Commercial (AT&C) losses. This expansion aims to improve service delivery, enhance consumer satisfaction, and support efficient power supply management.
In Bhopal, high-pressure industrial consumers in the Govindpura Industrial Area will be supported by a dedicated FOC team operating from the Industrial Area Gate Distribution Center. Meanwhile, mini FOC teams will serve rural high-pressure consumers through the Bagrauda and Bilkisganj Distribution Centers. Each normal FOC team will consist of two skilled and two unskilled employees, equipped with company-provided smartphones and a fully fitted service vehicle. Mini teams will include one skilled and two unskilled personnel.
The initiative also targets low-pressure domestic consumers in six key towns: Pachmarhi and Seoni Malwa (Narmadapuram Circle), Narsinghgarh (Rajgarh Circle), Begamganj (Raisen Circle), Mungawali (Ashoknagar Circle), and Amla (Betul Circle). In these areas, full-fledged FOC teams will operate in three shifts to ensure 24/7 service. Each shift will be manned by one skilled and one unskilled worker, with an additional skilled worker serving as a reliever, bringing the total team strength to seven.
The FOC teams are responsible not only for promptly resolving power outages and consumer complaints but also for supporting revenue recovery, infrastructure maintenance, and timely execution of new electricity connections.
Managing Director Kshitij Singhal reaffirmed the company’s commitment to uninterrupted power and efficient services across all consumer segments. "The formation of new FOC teams is a part of our ongoing strategy to improve service quality and responsiveness. These teams will play a crucial role in ensuring 24x7 power supply, swift complaint redressal, and the upkeep of our electrical infrastructure," he said.
MPSEB has also urged consumers to pay their electricity bills on time, avoid unauthorized usage, and contribute to preventing electricity theft by reporting such incidents under the company’s informer reward scheme. The company emphasized that the success of this initiative depends on strong billing and collection records.
"If consumers continue their support through timely payments and responsible usage, similar 24x7 FOC services will be introduced in more areas," the company stated.
