Aishbagh ROB to open in June

Sunday, 20 April 2025 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

The long-awaited Aishbagh Railway Overbridge (ROB) in the state capital will be completed by June 15, with traffic likely to begin using it shortly after.

Urban Development Minister Vishvas Sarang, during a recent inspection, noted that 95 percent of the work has been completed. He criticised officials for delays beyond the original deadline and instructed them to speed up progress.

Once operational, the ROB will ease movement from Mahamai Ka Bagh, Pushpa Nagar, and the station area to New Bhopal. Sarang also announced plans to renovate Aishbagh Stadium and improve access routes and parking.

A power house located near the stadium will be shifted to clear space for a dedicated parking area. The aim is to make the stadium more accessible and visitor-friendly in the long run.

The bridge is being built at a cost of Rs 17.37 crore and will be 648 metres long and 8.5 metres wide. It is expected to serve nearly one lakh commuters daily.

Aishbagh, one of the city's older neighbourhoods, was left divided after a railway level crossing was closed. Residents were forced to take long detours, making the overbridge a long-pending demand.
