The SMS-New department of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) has once again achieved a remarkable milestone by setting a new record of 34 heats cast from a single tundish, surpassing the previous record of 33 heats set in February 2023.
This accomplishment reflects the department’s continuous drive for operational excellence through enhanced technical efficiency, effective coordination, and strategic planning. The successful casting of 34 heats from a single tundish is a testament to the department’s rigorous quality control, precise temperature management, and strong team collaboration.
The achievement was made possible under the guidance of Director In-Charge Birendra Kumar Tiwari and Executive Director (Works) C.R. Mahapatra, with leadership support from Chief General Manager In-Charge (Steel) Arvind Kumar and Chief General Manager (SMS-New) P.V. Rao. The collective contribution of the entire SMS-New team and associated departments was instrumental in reaching this milestone.
Over the past few years, the SMS-New department has established several new benchmarks in production, quality, and operational efficiency. This latest success not only reinforces BSL’s technical strength but also enhances SAIL’s competitive position in the steel industry.
