Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday said that her counterparts from various states “unanimously” appreciated Operation Sindoor and congratulated the armed forces and Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a meeting of the NITI Aayog.

Rekha  Gupta, who attended her first meeting of the NITI Aayog’s Governing Council after taking charge as the chief minister of the BJP government in February this year, highlighting her government’s core priorities—cleaning the Yamuna River, enhancing infrastructure, and providing piped water to every household. She declared Pollution-Free Delhi as the next priority.

The Chief Minister said that it was a very good experience as she learnt a lot by listening to other states. “The best part of the meeting for me was that all the chief ministers unanimously and in one voice appreciated Operation Sindoor and congratulated the armed forces and the prime minister,” she said after the meeting held at Bharat Mandapam.  It was pleasing to see that entire India is united, the chief minister added. Delhi CM said Delhi being the national capital, carries a heightened responsibility. People from every Indian state have made Delhi their home, and providing them with quality civic services is a duty. Upholding the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,’ Delhi has started celebrating State Days of all Indian states. She also called for greater cooperation from neighbouring states such as Haryana, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh to accelerate regional development. She described Delhi as a city nurtured by history and culture, now aiming to shape a glorious future.

“Looking ahead to 2047, the Chief Minister outlined a clear vision: access to nutritious food, clean drinking water, inclusive and quality education, universal healthcare, skill development, high-tech research, waste-free ecosystems, and heritage conservation. The Delhi Government is actively pursuing these goals,” she said. The government is also expanding healthcare infrastructure by constructing new hospitals to make affordable, accessible, and quality health services a reality for every resident.

Rekha said Delhi’s water supply strategy includes a comprehensive, phased plan for piped water access to every household. New Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) are being set up. Yamuna rejuvenation and rainwater harvesting are the top priorities. All works are being undertaken under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with utmost commitment. “Yamuna is envisioned not just as a clean river but as a symbol of cultural renaissance. Government is planning 40 new decentralised STPs to clean all major drains before they enter the river. The Chief Minister sought strong support from the Centre and neighbouring states to collectively restore the Yamuna’s glory,” she said Rekha  said that it was a wonderful first NITI Aayog meeting for her, as several states shared their good practices and also received guidance from Prime Minister Modi.

Rekha also announced that Delhi will host its first-ever Investor Summit under the leadership of PM Modi, unlocking investment opportunities and placing Delhi firmly on the global investment map. Plans for a new tourism circuit and strengthened support for Start-up India and Stand-up India are also underway.

Ahead of attending the NITI Aayog meeting, the chief minister earlier in the day accused the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regime of not raising the issues of Delhi’s interests before the Centre’s policy think-tank for years.
