Former Bokaro MLA Biranchi Narayan on Tuesday appeared before the Chas Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) in connection with a complaint he had lodged with the Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand. The complaint alleges that sitting Congress MLA Shweta Singh holds multiple voter ID cards and concealed key information in her nomination affidavit for the 2024 assembly elections.
Acting on the CEO’s direction, the Chas SDO initiated a probe and summoned Narayan to present documentary evidence. During his appearance, Narayan submitted proof supporting his allegations and filed an additional written complaint.
He claimed that MLA Shweta Singh failed to disclose details regarding two government quarters allotted to her by public sector undertakings—BSL and HSCL—specifically quarters No. 562 (Sector 3D) and No. 873 (Sector 3A). He alleged that rent dues are pending for both accommodations and that Singh did not furnish 'No Dues Certificates' with her nomination, which he says constitutes a violation under the Office of Profit clause.
Quoting provisions under Article 191(1)(a) and Article 192 of the Indian Constitution, as well as Section 125A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, Narayan has demanded legal action and the cancellation of Shweta Singh’s assembly membership for filing a “false affidavit.â€
As news of Narayan's visit to the Chas SDO office spread, a large number of BJP workers and supporters gathered in his support, including senior leaders such as Kamlesh Rai, Sanjay Tyagi, K.K. Borla, Mahendra Rai, Harish Chandra Singh, Subhash Singh, and others.
