JAC Class 12 results: Girls dominate merit list in both Science and Commerce

The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) declared the intermediate results for the academic session 2024- 25 on Saturday for the two streams- science and commerce and in both the faculties girls from across the State have outperformed boys.

Jharkhand School Education and Literacy Department Minister Ramdas Soren officially announced the results at the JAC auditorium in Ranchi. Students can check their results on the official websites: jacresults.com and jac.jharkhand.gov.in.

A student named Ankita Dutta of Rajkiyakrit Plus Two High School, Govindpur scored a total of 477 marks and became the State topper in Science. Ankit Kumar Sah of Naomundi Inter College, Naomundi secured the second spot with 476 marks followed by Kishor Kumar of Plus 2 High School, Barkagaon, Jagannath Singh Choudhary of VK Majdoor Inter College, Chas and Himanshu Kumar of Bishnugarh Inter College, Bishnugarh with 474 marks each.

In the Science stream, 99218 students were enrolled for the examination which included 61100 boys and 38118 girls, whereas 98634 appeared for it and 78186 have passed the exam. The pass percentage this academic session has been recorded at 79.26% while last year it was 72.70%. As many as 58720 students have cleared the exam with first division, 19383 scored in the second division while 63 students got marks in the third division.  

For the faculty of Commerce, 22204 students were registered with board for the examination out of which 22066 appeared for it which included 12686 male and 9380 females and 20285 examinees have cleared the exam. This year, the pass percentage of the students is 91.92% whereas last year it was at 90.60%. As many as 12829 students scored in the first division, 7234 in the second division and 222 in the third division.

A student of St Xavier’s Girls Inter College, Chaibasa, Reshmi Kumari with 476 marks was declared the State topper in Commerce. Hasan Seikh and Piyush Shaw, both from Government Plus 2 High School Mihizam secured the second and third spot with 475 and 474 marks respectively

As per the data released by the Council, for Commerce, amongst the top 16 students 10 are girls while in science, out of the top 31 students, there are 18 girls and 13 boys.

Splitting in up district wise, for Science, the highest pass percentage was recorded in Latehar at 88.08% followed by Koderma with 86.97% and Palamu with 85.79%. Ranchi at the 16th place recorded a 76.08% pass percentage this year. Similarly, in Commerce, Latehar recorded an impressive 100% pass percentage while Lohardaga had the second highest pass percentage at 98.69% and Simdega got the third spot with 98.04%. The State capital was at the 12th spot with 92.68%.

The top scorer in the class 12 examination will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh, laptop and mobile phone. The students at the second and third spot will get Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh respectively along with a laptop and mobile phone each by the State government.

After the announcement of the results Chief Minister took to social media and tweeted, “Many congratulations, best wishes and johar to all the students who have passed the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) Board’s Intermediate (12th)-Commerce and Science examination. Heartiest wishes to all for a bright future. I also extend my hearty congratulations and greetings to all the parents and teachers on this occasion.”
