Habibganj police have registered a case against Aakash Uike, a local resident, for sexually assaulting and exploiting a 31-year-old divorced woman under the pretext of marriage. The accused allegedly harassed the woman over a prolonged period, making false promises of marriage to gain her trust.
According to police, the victim, who supports her family by working as a laborer, came into contact with Aakash about five years ago. The accused, living in the same locality, befriended her by offering help and assurances that he would marry her and raise her child. Trusting his promises, the woman engaged in a physical relationship with Aakash multiple times. However, when she recently pressed him to formalize their relationship through marriage, he refused. Feeling betrayed and exploited, the woman approached the police and lodged a complaint.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to rape and sexual exploitation. Investigation is underway to bring the accused to justice.
