A one-day workshop was organized in the JAP-IT auditorium on "Safe Internet Day". On this occasion, IT and e-Governance Director Aditya Ranjan said that the Internet is a part of our lifestyle, but we should be careful and cautious while using the Internet. There is a need to be aware to prevent cyber fraud and other cybercrimes. "Safe Internet Day" is an initiative of the Government of India and the State Government so that all citizens can be informed about the safe use of the Internet.
Director JSAC R. Ronita also inspired the officials and employees of all departments to be aware of safe internet and to make all sections of the society aware.
Through a presentation by Deepak Kumar, State Information Science Officer and Omesh Prasad Sinha, detailed information was given about cyber threat, cyber hygiene and cyber security faced by common people while using internet in their lives. State Information Science Officer said that general public will be able to get more information related to cyber threat and cyber hygiene from https://staysafeonline.in.
Dr Prashant Kumar Sinha, Deputy Director NIC Jharkhand gave important information through ppt. He said that cyber criminals try to cheat people by adopting new methods, which includes digital arrest, investing by luring high returns, various types of online gaming platforms etc. He said that to avoid cyber fraud, transact money in a safe manner, avoid using mobile charging in public places, public WiFi, do not transact money with unknown people without knowing them, avoid receiving WhatsApp calls and WhatsApp video calls and international calls from unknown numbers, be aware yourself and make your family aware too.
Cyber criminals commit cyber fraud by taking advantage of people's ignorance. In case of cyber fraud, call 1930 and register a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and get the transaction blocked.
Information was given in the workshop that OTP, Aadhar card, PAN card or other bank information should not be shared with unknown people, as well as not to click on links coming from unknown numbers, not to scan QR code to receive payment from unknown people and not to share OTP or PIN, not to use public WiFi while doing bank transactions, and other issues including artificial intelligence, social media, cyber threats, online fraud, deep fake, WhatsApp security, digital arrest were discussed.
Joint Director Shiv Charan Banerjee, officials of Welfare Department, Revenue Department and other departments were also present in the workshop.
