SER cancels several trains due to Operational Constraints

Thursday, 16 January 2025 | PNS | Jamshedpur

South Eastern Railway, headquartered at Garden Reach in Kolkata, has notified the cancellation of several trains between January 29 and 31 due to operational constraints. A circular issued by the railway authorities outlined the affected services and assured passengers of full refunds for tickets booked on the canceled trains.

The cancellation is expected to impact hundreds of passengers traveling on these routes, as they are among the busiest in the region. Railway sources confirmed that the operational constraints necessitating these cancellations are temporary, and efforts are underway to restore normal services at the earliest.

The trains affected by the cancellations are as follows: 12826 Anand Vihar-Ranchi Express will remain canceled on January 29.

12825 Ranchi-Anand Vihar Express will remain canceled on January 30.

12281 Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Express will remain canceled on January 29.  12282 New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Express will remain canceled on January 30.

20839 Ranchi-New Delhi Express will remain canceled on January 29.

20840 New Delhi-Ranchi Express will remain canceled on January 31.

Passengers who had booked tickets for these dates are eligible for a full refund, which will be processed without any deductions. Those who booked their tickets online will receive the refund directly in their accounts, while passengers who booked through counters can claim the refund by visiting the reservation office.

The railway authorities have urged passengers to stay updated on train schedules and cancellations through official channels, including the South Eastern Railway’s website and enquiry numbers.

Frequent travelers have expressed concerns over disruptions in their plans due to the cancellations. A regular commuter remarked, “While the refund policy is appreciated, the sudden cancellations have caused significant inconvenience to passengers who rely heavily on these trains for work and family commitments.”

The cancellations have also raised questions about the operational challenges faced by the South Eastern Railway. While the exact reasons for the constraints have not been disclosed, railway officials assured that corrective measures are being implemented to avoid similar disruptions in the future.

"Passengers are advised to verify the status of their trains and explore alternative arrangements well in advance to avoid last-minute inconveniences," said an official.
