A two-day National Workshop on the ‘Naksha’ Web-GIS Platform will take place on June 5 and 6, 2025, at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Bhopal. The event is being organized jointly by the Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, and the Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSEDC).
The workshop will bring together senior government officials, technical experts, and professionals involved in land management from across the country. It aims to demonstrate the capabilities of the ‘Naksha’ Web-GIS solution, with a focus on urban property surveys and geospatial data management, while promoting transparency and technology-driven systems in land governance and administration.
The inaugural session will be attended by key officials including Shyam Kumar, Director, Department of Land Resources, Kunal Satyarthi, Joint Secretary, Department of Land Resources, Sanjay Dubey, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Vivek Porwal, Principal Secretary, Revenue Department, Sanjay Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development and Housing Department, and Anubha Srivastava, Secretary, Revenue & Commissioner, Land Records, along with other dignitaries.
On the first day, technical presentations and live demonstrations will be held to showcase the features of the ‘Naksha’ platform and its real-time applications in urban property surveys. Experts from Survey of India and MPSEDC will lead training sessions on drone-based image analysis, feature extraction, and ground-level survey techniques. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit Sanchi for a hands-on field exercise, using the mobile-based Naksha app for real-time surveys such as plot assessments, multi-ownership mapping, and record updates.
