2 Class XI students ragged in DPS Noida hostel, hospitalised

Two Class XI students of the Delhi Public School were allegedly ragged and beaten up by six seniors in the school's hostel on Noida Sector-30 campus on Monday around 9 pm, police said.

They were admitted to Kailash Hospital on Monday late night. Police said the victims, as well as the seniors who ragged them, are minors.

Police said the school management was warned against ragging and violence, but it didn't change anything as the student duo was allegedly ragged by seniors earlier on May 5 too in the hostel.

Police said when the two students of Class XI — Yash Rawat and Dhruv Aggrawal — were watching television on Monday night in the hostel's common hall, senior students of Class XII allegedly ragged them. And when they resisted, the seniors started beating them, police said.

Yash's father Arjun Singh Rawat — who hails from Bulandsahar district and is a businessman — has lodged an FIR against six named students and 11 other students of the DPS for ragging twice in a week on school campus.

Police have registered an FIR under Sections 147, 148, 149, 306 of Indian Penal Code at Noida Sector 20 police station.

In the FIR, victim's father Rawat said senior students had ragged his son and another student Dhruv earlier on May 5 as well. "After being ragged by seniors, my son's heart beat increased and he was hospitalised in Max Hospital. The school management was informed about the incident. I brought him to hostel on May 8," he alleged.

"The Principal had assured us that such incident would not happen again. But it took place again in the hostel on Monday. Now, I want strict action against the guilty students," Rawat said.

Also, Rawat raised questions against the school management saying that the management tried to sweep the matter under the rug and did not act seriously.  Superintendent of Police, Noida Dinesh Yadav said police have registered statements of injured students and are investigating the matter. “We are trying to detain named students in the FIR and the statements would be recorded for further investigation,” the SP added.
