The Parichay Foundation felicitated male achievers in different fields on the Father’s Day here on Sunday.
The nine-year-old philanthropic organization is engaged in promotion of Indian art and culture and bringing about economic and social upliftment of underprivileged women and children in urban slums of Odisha and Delhi. It also works in the hinterland of Odisha.
The foundation launched the award named ‘SHRIE’ as an attempt to salute the exemplary work of men in various fields. A total of 12 men got the award. For the first year, the foundation has selected the awardees on the basis of the recommendations of its all-women executive committee members.
Sujit Mahapatra was awarded for his contribution to social work while Dr Madhabana Kar was felicitated in the field of medical science.
Satyarth Nayak was felicitated in the field of literature, Md Jafar Iqbal for sports, Saswat Joshi for art and culture, Bijoy Kumar Sahoo for education, Santosh Panda for entrepreneurship, Yash A Patnaik for entertainment and Rashmi Ranjan Parida for media.
A special award for promoting Odia culture abroad was given to Sambit Mishra.
The Syndicate Bank got the CSR award. Joe Madiath bagged the lifetime achievement award for social work.
Renowned Hasya Kavi Padmashree Surender Sharma was the star attraction of the ceremony and gave a rib tickling performance.
MlA Priyadarshi Mishra, School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra, Actors Seema Biswas and Anu Choudhury, KIIT and KISS founder Achyuta Samanta and writer Iti Samanta were present as guests in the event.
