A Class VII girl student allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her house in Inder Puri area of west Delhi, police said on Thursday. The 12-year-old wrote the teacher’s name on her palms and hands and also left behind a note stating the reason for her taking the extreme step.

According to senior police official, the girl committed suicide on Saturday when she was alone at home. “Her mother is a lawyer at Delhi court. She was in court at the time of

incident. On her palms and hands she wrote that she did not want to go to school anymore. She apologised to her mother and grandmother and said she was going to meet Lord Krishna. A case has been registered and further investigation is going on,” said the senior police official.

“She was a student of Gyan Mandir Public School at Naraina Vihar. She was last seen alive on Saturday morning by her mother. Her mother had left home in the morning and at around 4 pm when she returned home she saw her daughter hanging from a ceiling fan,” said the senior police official.

“Her mother in her statement had said that on November 30, her daughter had gone for school trip and the very next day some students linked her with a boy, following which a school science teacher rebuked her. This is not the first time, the teacher on several instance had humiliated her,” said the senior police official.

“On her birthday on December 20 she had planned to take her out but now she is gone,” said her inconsolable mother. Meanwhile, the school management in its statement said they are fully cooperating with the investigating authority and were also conducting an internal inquiry.  “As of now we are not at liberty to disclose any details which may jeopardise the police investigation of the case,” the school administration stated.
