On the third day of Tribal Literature Festival in the evening cultural programme ‘Akhra’ artists from Mizoram presented Cherav dance, Rikmapada dance by Arunachal Pradesh artists, Thang Ta and Dhol Cholam dance of Manipur and the festival concluded by musical performance of legendary Bastar Band.
According to authors participating in TLF, Bastar Band is a pure desi and proud, strong carrier of traditions. Bastar Band is a group of Heritage artists. Bastar Band is music of the people and traditional life, which is in continuation of the centuries-old culture. These musical instruments include Goga Dhol, Mirgan Dhol, Ciadi Baja, Bedur, Sullud, Chitkal, Uzir, Kikid, Tehondor, Goti, Narparai, Gutapurey, Charha, Dusir, Munda, Tapakhi, Akum, Todi, Tudbari, Nangura, Dhurva Dhol, Madiya drum etc.
Bastar band consists of more than forty members from almost all the tribes of Bastar and with as many instruments. Each member of this band played three or four musical instruments, develops verbal sounds, beats using wooden and string instruments, collectively develops a musical picture of a rich tradition of cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh was presented.
The band's performance began with Devpada.
Devpada ie Dev music is the story involves ritualistic arrival and stay of Dev (deity) and the rituals of the Gods.
In which the first challenge of the Goddess is to challenge the public society through the pre-Naphri, Akum, and Taudji instrument and God writes the fort for preparations for the arrival of the person.
On the third day of the Tribal Literature Festival 2018 a panel discussion was organised where poems / short story on the tribal language literature, culture etc by Theresa Darlong, Lincoln Reeng, Punniloshi, Ambition, Ayangini, Gayati Rana, Hage Taco, CR Satyanarayan highlighted through his presentations.
