Eighteen injured as truck falls into gorge in Chamba: police

Eighteen persons were injured - five of them critically - as a truck they were travelling in fell into a gorge at Sathaly between Bharmour and Hudsor in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district late Sunday night, the police said.

The police reached the spot soon after getting the information and rescued the injured, which included 12 women, Chamba Superintendent of Police Monica Bhutunguru said.

The victims, including driver Vinod Kumar of the truck bearing registration number HP 46 1712, were rushed to Community Health Centre Bharmour, she said, adding the five critically injured persons have been referred to a superior hospital.

Most of the mishap victims hail from nearby areas, she added.
