Wednesday, 17 April 2019 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

Rohit Shekhar Tiwari, who fought with his father Narain Dutt Tiwari, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, to be accepted as his son, died of heart attack in Delhi on Tuesday.

According to Vijay Kumar, DCP, South district, Rohit was brought to Max Hospital in Saket where doctors declared him brought dead.

Rohit had in 2008 went to court against Tiwari claiming he was born out of an affair between his mother and Tiwari.

“Prime facie it indicates that he died due to sudden heart attack at his Defence Colony residence. He was 39 years old. However, post mortem report will ascertain the exact cause of death,” said a senior police official.

“Police suspects that there is no foul play. However, a probe has been initiated and the matter is being investigated from every angle,” said the senior police official.

In 2012, ND Tiwari, who had quit as Andhra Pradesh Governor after a purported video of his sexual escapade was leaked, was forced to give samples of his DNA for a paternity test after warnings by the Delhi High Court.

In 2014, ND Tiwari finally accepted Rohit as his son, putting an end to a prolonged legal battle on the issue. In January 2017, Rohit Shekhar had joined the BJP.
