Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday announced to launch a state-wide stir, christened ‘Bijli Andolan-2’, against the Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government indulging in “open loot” by hiking the power tariff, time and again.
The decision was taken during a meeting between the Punjab legislators, led by Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema, and Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party’s
national convener Arvind Kejriwal and in-charge of Punjab parry affairs and Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in Delhi on Sunday.
The decision was taken in view of the recent power hike by the State Government, said senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Sunam Minister of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Aman Arora and party’s youth wing in-charge and Barnala MLA Meet Hayer, in a joint statement.
They said the Captain Amrinder Singh Government, during its nearly two-and-a-half year’s tenure, had hiked power tariff for as many as five times, whereas the |
Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi Government had, instead of increasing the electricity tariff, reduced it substantially.
