Former principal secretary to the chief minister Aman Singh and his wife Yasmin Singh, who was a contractual employee with the state government, have filed a defamation suit against Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress spokesperson Vikas Tiwari for “maligning their image.”

The suit has been filed before the judicial magistrate at a local court in Bhopal.

Notable, Congress spokesperson Tiwari in a letter to chief secretary had accused Singh of amassing disproportionate property. A Special investigation Team probe has already been set up by the state government against Singh to investigate into the matter.

Tiwari also alleged that Singh’s wife Yasmin was given undue advantage and was appointed in a high salary as a contractual employee in the state government.

On the basis of Tiwari complaint against Yasmin the state government has also formed a probe committee headed by Principal Secretary Renu G Pillai, which is investing into the matter.

Meanwhile, Singh in his defamation suit has filed a case based on the complaint of Tiwari to the Chief Secretary and had argued that all the allegations against them were baseless.

Singh had also claimed Tiwari had “maligned his image by propagating false allegations against him in social media platform as well as before the print and electronic media.”

The case has been filed under section 499 and 500 of the IPC, which deal with criminal defamation.
