Wednesday, 20 March 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

The late Chief Minister of Goa and former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar was a person with a gentle personality but strong will power. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said this while recalling his experience with Parrikar at a meet held to pay tribute to the late BJP leader here on Tuesday.

Sharing his experiences with the party workers, the chief minister recalled that once when he had gone to meet Parrikar at his Goa residence, there was no security there.

“I thought he was not at home but on sending a message inside, he himself came out to receive us. While talking on environment related issues in execution of developmental schemes in Goa and Uttarakhand, he said that said that problems were faced in keeping various schemes distant from the sea. Stating that similar issues must be cropping up in Uttarakhand too due to forests, he also gave me the number of an advocate who is an expert in this field,” said Rawat.

BJP State president Ajay Bhatt recalled the late CM of Goa as a genuine human being. “During his tenure as the Defence minister, he visited Uttarakhand on many occasions and during his last visit also got the plan for Shaurya Sthal made in Mussoorie assembly constituency. ‘

While visiting the Pithsain village of Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali, he had also announced a relaxation of three inches in the height standards for the youth of Uttarakhand seeking recruitment in the army,” said Bhatt. Tehri MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, State minister Dhan Singh Rawat, BJP state vice president Jyoti Gairola, Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ and other party office bearers were also present on the occasion.
