IPS officer of Punjab Police’s 1987-batch, CSR Reddy, currently posted as the Director General of Police (DGP), Investigation, Lokpal, on Tuesday breathed his last at the Rela Institute and Medical Center, Chennai, after a brief illness.
Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh condoled Reddy’s death while describing him as an “intelligent, upright, astute and valiant uniformed officer, who rendered outstanding services in the police force, while fighting against terrorism bravely”.
In is condolence message, the Chief Minister said: “With Reddy’s demise, the police force has been deprived of the services of a dynamic and courageous police officer. His commendable services would be always remembered by one and all.”
Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family, Capt Amarinder prayed to the Almighty to give strength to them to bear this huge loss, and grant eternal peace to the departed soul.
Reddy joined Punjab cadre in the thick of terrorism in the State and trained in Gurdaspur district and was posted as an ASP in Batala and Phillaur Sub-division.
After a stint as SP City Jalandhar, he was posted as Senior Superintendent of Police in Batala, Patiala, Majitha and Chandigarh. He worked as DIG Jalandhar Range, DIG CM Security, DIG Traffic, DIG Vigilance Bureau.
On promotion to the rank of IGP, Reddy was posted as Director, Vigilance Bureau, IG IRB, Zonal IG Patiala, Zonal IG Ferozepur, IGP Security and IGP Provisioning. He held the charge of the posts of ADGP Security, ADGP Provisioning, ADGP IT&T.
