The Chandigarh Police on Monday claimed to have solved the murder case of Tejinder Singh (26) who was shot in broad daylight in the heart of the city on September 4, with the arrest of three accused.
Tejinder, who hailed from Jind district in Haryana, was shot dead at Sector 17 here on September 4. Another person Sandeep (24), also from Jind was injured in the firing and was admitted to the PGIMER.
The UT Police has arrested three accused namely Vikas Mor alias Boxer, Gurmeet Singh alias Dhakalia and Amit alias Amit Growar for the murder of Tejinder. The three accused were nabbed in Manimajra. All three accused belong to Jind district.
Senior officers of UT Police crime branch had constituted a team of SI Satvinder Singh under the supervision of Inspector Sher Singh for cracking the case and arresting the fled gangsters.
“The murder of Tejinder Singh was the result of long-standing enmity. Multiple raids were carried out in Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi by the investigating team of Chandigarh Police to nab the culprits,” said a senior officer of Chandigarh Police.
He said that following some inputs, a trap was laid by crime branch and the accused were nabbed near Shivalik Garden, Manimajra and later-on arrested in the case under Sector 307, 304, 34 with addition of 302 IPC & 27 of Arms Act, 1959 on Monday.
A .32 Bore Pistol was recovered from the possession of accused Vikas which was used in the murder of deceased Tejinder Singh. Further, interrogation is on, he said.
Vikas (20) is a college dropout and was involved in criminal activities previously also. He made a gang named boxer and is wanted in a murder case registered in Haryana. The accused Gurmert Singh (19), a college dropout is also wanted in an attempt for murder and rioting case by Haryana Police while Amit (18) was on bail in a rioting case. The deceased as well as accused party were involved in student politics and were involved in verbal spat several times, which dragged them at the stage of killing each other. In April this year, Mohit Mor, the brother of accused Vikas was brutally murdered by Dumerkha Group, which is associated with deceased Tejinder Singh, the police officer said. Following this rivalry, two boys were murdered in Narwana by Boxer gang on August 14 and Vikas and his gang members then planned and executed the murder of Tejinder Singh to take revenge, he added.
