With two major investors engaged in information technology (IT) showing interest in Odisha, more IT projects are likely to land up in the State.
C-TEL Infosystems (CTIS), an IT company, which had submitted a proposal to set up a new IT project for development of IoT software at Info Valley, has been cleared by the State Government.
CTIS is on expansion mode and will set up a unit for development of IoT with a cost of Rs 65 crore. The project will come up at Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) Park in Info Valley.
The project will generate employment opportunities for 730 people, both direct and indirect.
Similarly, StarGSM Upakaran Peripherals will set up a plant to assemble mobile handsets and other electronic items.
Those items include Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), battery, charger, power bank and electronics devices for Star GSM Cellular India.
Star GSM Cellular India is a sister concern of Hong Kong Based InTime Global with 20 years of expertise in logistics business with a presence in countries of Asia, Africa and Middle East.
In Time Global Solutions FZE Dubai will be investing in the project, officials said.
In 2010, Star GSM Cellular India had launched distinct and highly functional cell phones and smart phone models, under the brand ‘Star GSM’ to establish itself as an innovative mobile handset brand of India.
Now it has decided to diversify into related products, officials say. So the project will come up with an investment of Rs 75 crore and will be implemented within a year, which will generate employment opportunity for 1,300 people, said sources.
The projects have been cleared by State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA), officials said.
