In the Hathras incident, service of two doctors as medical officers of JN Medical College have been terminated within 24 hours of the CBI team visit.

A CBI team visited JN Medical College regarding the incident of Hathras. The team interrogated staff members, including eight doctors. A casualty medical officer-in-charge of Emergency and Trauma Center, Dr. Shah Zaidi issued a notice for the termination of two doctors, Dr. Ubaid Imtiaz-ul-Haq and Dr.

Mohammad Azimuddin Malik from their post of Medical Officer. Other doctors along with Resident Doctors Association expressed their anger and resentment at this action.

Dr. Zaidi, Casualty Medical Officer In-charge, Emergency & Trauma Center, JNMC said that these two doctors were appointed on leave vacancy place of casualty Medical Officer Dr. Naresh.

Instructions were received on the phone from the Vice-Chancellor, following which the appointment of both doctors was terminated.

MIC Prof. Shahe Qidwai, Public Relations Office, AMU, told that these two doctors were appointed on leave vacancy and their tenure was completed on 8th October. But due to the signature on some medicolegal documents, the university administration is considering their extension. According to the sources, the signature of these doctors is likely to have on the medicolegal documents of the victim in the incident of Hathras due to which service extension has been given to these doctors so that their presence can be confirmed in the inquiry.

Terminated doctors have demanded reconsideration from the university administration. They said that we served during the corona pandemic, even after this, our matter was not considered sympathetically. We have been working here for the last two and a half months, meanwhile, the incident of Hathras happened. We have been given a notice, concerning which it has been said that the vice-chancellor's call came and after that, this notice was issued.

Dr. Ubaid told that to work here, he left the job in another place, even then they have been terminated.

They have been given notice from the CMO In-charge.

Dr. Hamza Malik, RDA president said that it is one-sided action. The administration did not ask any explanation neither they heard them. We will hold a general body meeting to protest this and further strategy will be decided based on the meeting decision.

BJP leader and an alumnus of AMU, Nitish Sharma, has demanded a thorough inquiry on both doctors. He had issued a statement on 5 Oct in which he demanded an inquiry by registering a complaint against the students of JNMC and the CMO who gave statements in Hathras case. He also filed a complaint on Twitter saying that CMO and the student tried to spread confusion by their statements in the Hathras case. Their activities are also suspicious like PFI. He further said that the removal of both doctors is not enough, there should be strict action on these doctors so that in the future they will not enter any government service.
